Abstract Cryptococcus neoformans (Cn) and Cryptococcus gattii (Cg) cause neurological
disease and cross the BBB as free cells or in mononuclear phagocytes via the Trojan horse
mechanism, although evidence for the latter is indirect. There is emerging evidence that Cn
